Mr C.H. Jolliffe had a racehorse called Grewelthorpe by Hackthorpe & Antidote. It came 5th in the village nursery handicap at Leicester at the Autumn meeting 1888. It won the Windsor meeting, Boveney Plate, for 2yr olds, 5 furlongs. Beating the horse called Skipper by a neck. August 1888.
After this race [Aug 1888] the colt was sold to Mr Abington to increase his already large stud. The price paid was 240gns. It came 4th at the Gopsall selling plate Leicester spring meeting 1889.
At the spring meeting at Epsom, Grewelthorpe came 4th. in the Banstead Plate.
Won the Garrick selling plate at Kempton Park Easter meeting 1889, and was sold to Mr. Nesbitt for 260 guineas.
